RMCD issues notification on imposition of compound for failure to make GST payment within a prescribed period, 19 October 2016 Click to open document in a brow

The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) has announced an extension of time for registrants who still have outstanding tax in the year of 2015. They are given until 31 October 2016 to pay the outstanding amount or will be fined to a maximum amount of RM20,000 if they fail to make the payment.

Meanwhile, for registrants who still have an outstanding tax in the year of 2016 will be given until 31 December 2016 to settle the outstanding amount. There will be a reduction in the amount of compound if they make the payment until 31 December 2016. However, if the outstanding payment is made after 31 December 2016, a compound to the maximum amount of RM25,000 will be imposed.
