Deputy Finance Minister: House ownership is a key focus area

The Deputy Finance Minister acknowledged the issue of house ownership among the younger generation and it is expected to be one of the key focus areas of the Budget 2017. Other key focus areas would be assisting the needy, such as B40 group, entrepreneurs and students, and economic growth, which includes the continuation of the Mass Rapid Transit and Pan Borneo Highway projects.

investPenang, Frepenca submit proposals to attract and retain investors

The Budget 2017 wishlist of investPenang and The Free Industrial Zone, Penang, Companies’ Association (Frepenca) includes the expansion of the Penang International Airport, innovative incentive packages to promote fresh investments and retain talents, the implementation of a consistent national human resource policy on foreign workers as well as the improvement of essential infrastructure and education system. investPenang has also suggested for Malaysian Investment Development Authority to be turned into a one-stop centre for all investment approvals and incentives to improve the ease of conducting business in Malaysia, while Talent Corp should be a one-stop centre for matters relating to the availability of talents to meet the investors’ demands.
