IRB: Employers that are companies must e-File Form E, 24 January 2017

January 24th, 2017/ Posted by admin

With effect from year of remuneration 2016, employers that are companies and Labuan companies are required to furnish Form E to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) via e-Filing, pursuant to s 83(1B) of the Income Tax Act 1967 (ITA 1967). A submission of a manual Form E will be deemed not received for the purpose of s 83(1B) of the ITA 1967. Employers other than companies are allowed to furnish manual Form E to the IRB. The IRB, however, encourages e-Filing of the Form E.

The due date for the submission of the Form E is 31 March 2017. Those who choose to e-File, however, will be eligible for an extension up to 30 April 2017.

Employers are also reminded to issue the Form EA or Form EC to their employees by 28 February 2017 to enable them to submit the necessary income tax returns.

Kindly visit the IRB website for further details.
